With over 350 members, the Auxiliary is made up of three area branches and the Auxiliary Thrift Shop. It is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Executive Officers, Chairs of each Branch, Thrift Shop, and Standing Committee Chairs. The dollars we continue to raise through our fundraising activities helps ensure the best possible health care for the entire community.
Brief History
The Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary, first known as the Cape Cod Hospital Aid Association, was formed in 1942 by a small group of dedicated women committed to helping the hospital. After World War II, the Auxiliary organized into “Village” branches. We are very proud of our Auxiliary and its history.
Volunteerism Members are the mainstay and the reason for the success of the Auxiliary’s fundraising efforts. Beyond the dollar amounts raised are the untold thousands of volunteer hours donated year after year to fundraising tasks, education, and health promotion. Fundraising Fundraising is an ongoing and vitally important function of the Auxiliary. Monies raised are helping Cape Cod Hospital purchase equipment, build new structures, and enhance existing structures — to better serve our Community and its visitors. To date, we have raised over $8 million for the Hospital and its patients. Within our branches, some of the recent activities have been:
- Golf tournaments
- Holly Berry Bazaar (Orleans)
- Raffles
- Holiday Green Sales
- February Chocolate Extravaganza
- Auctions
- Wine tastings
- Card parties
Of course, our Thrift Shop, located at 690 Main Street in Hyannis, provides a large source of income each year toward our fundraising goals.
